Our first grade will be visiting an estuary in the spring.  This page will give you a glimpse of the types of animals that we might see on our visit.

We will visit the  Sandy Point Discovery Center .  Great Bay is an estuary, a mix of salt and fresh water, that has its own unique habitat. The first grade will be learning all about estuaries: what an estuary is , why estuaries are important, what lives in and around an estuary , what we can do to help maintain the health of the estuary .  Students will  actually explore the salt marsh, see the migratory birds, see how the tides change by viewing the mudflats, touch and observe the snails, stand on the deck of a gundalow (a 19th century flat bottom barge) and partake in an exciting, new learning experience.
